Ask any agent
Copy this prompt, paste it into your agent's chat, and add your topic. Your agent reads our short guide, writes your map, and replies with its link.
Make me a mind map with Mind Map Town. Follow the guide at https://mindmap.town/agents.md and reply with the map's link. The topic: your topic
Need a topic? Try a weekend in Kyoto, names for a bakery, or this week's meeting notes.
Agent can't open links?
Copy the whole guide instead. It carries every instruction with it, so it works even with web access off. Paste it, then add your topic at the end.
If a link opens a blank map, your agent made a small slip writing it. Ask it to check the link against the guide and try again.
Or add the skill
A skill is a small instruction file your agent keeps on hand. Add it once, then just ask for a mind map. No prompt needed.
One plain text file, the same guide the prompt points to. Read it first
Pick your agent
Claude apps (web, desktop, and mobile)
- Download the skill above.
- In Claude, open Customize, then Skills.
- Choose +, then Create skill, then Upload a skill, and pick mindmap-town.zip.
Skills need Code execution and file creation turned on in Claude's settings.
ChatGPT
If your ChatGPT workspace has Skills, upload mindmap-town.zip there. Otherwise, use the prompt above, or copy the whole guide if it can't open the link.
Claude Code
npx skills add https://mindmap.town -g -a claude-code
Codex
npx skills add https://mindmap.town -g -a codex
Codex doesn't always open web pages, so without the skill, copy the whole guide instead of the prompt.
Cursor
npx skills add https://mindmap.town -g -a cursor
GitHub Copilot and VS Code
npx skills add https://mindmap.town -g -a github-copilot
Gemini CLI
npx skills add https://mindmap.town -g -a gemini-cli
Windsurf, Amp, OpenCode, Goose, and more
npx skills add https://mindmap.town -g
It finds the agents on your computer and asks which ones get the skill.
No Node.js? (macOS and Linux)
for d in ~/.agents/skills ~/.claude/skills; do mkdir -p "$d/mindmap-town" && curl -fsSL https://mindmap.town/.well-known/agent-skills/mindmap-town/SKILL.md -o "$d/mindmap-town/SKILL.md"; done
This puts the skill where Claude Code and most other agents look for it.
The -g flag adds the skill for every project, not just the folder you're in.
Or draw it right in the chat
Add MindMap.Town's connector to Claude or ChatGPT, and your map appears right in the conversation. Open its notes, go full screen to zoom and pan, and open it here in one click to edit it. Ask for changes and a fresh map appears. No account needed.

Pick your chat app
Claude (web, desktop, and mobile)
- Add MindMap.Town to Claude. Or in Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, choose Add custom connector, and enter the address above.
- Claude sees that MindMap.Town needs no account. Choose Add.
- Ask Claude for a mind map. If it asks to use MindMap.Town, allow it.
Add it on the web or in the desktop app, and it's on your phone too. On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner adds it for everyone.
ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT's settings, open the security section and turn on Developer mode.
- On the Plugins page, choose +, then Create MCP App. Enter the address above and choose No authentication.
- Pick MindMap.Town in the message box (type @MindMap), then ask for a mind map.
Claude Code, VS Code, Goose, and more
Add a remote MCP server with the address above. Apps that show MCP Apps draw the map, and the rest reply with its link.
claude mcp add --transport http mindmap-town https://mindmap.town/mcp
Naming it gets you there fastest: "Use MindMap.Town to map out the pros and cons of moving to a new city."
What happens to your map
With a prompt or the skill, your agent writes the map on its side and hands you a link. The map lives only in that link, in the part after the #, and browsers never send that part to any server, ours included. Mind Map Town never sees your map, your prompt, or your chat.
Your agent sees whatever you tell it, including any map link you paste in. That's between you and your agent's provider, and its own terms and privacy policy apply, not ours.
In the chat, there's one difference: to draw your map, the chat app sends our connector the map its AI wrote, which can include things from your conversation. The connector turns it into a link and keeps nothing, with no maps and no logs of what it receives. It never gets the conversation itself, only the map. The drawing in the chat loads only our fonts. In chat apps, in our Privacy Policy, has the details.
Some agents read our guide or skill file straight from mindmap.town. That's an ordinary request for a public file, like loading this page, and it carries nothing about your map.
The npx skills installer is made by Vercel, not us. It sends anonymous install counts (which skill, and which agents), never anything about your maps. To turn that off, put DISABLE_TELEMETRY=1 in front of the command, or use the curl line.
As always, anyone with the link can read the map, so keep passwords and secrets out.
